I have had dry skin for as long as I can remember and I have hated every second of it! Sometimes, during the winter, my skin will get so dry that I don’t even want to leave the house for fear people will make fun of my scaly skin. I have never tried any fancy creams or cleansers. My mother taught me to wash my face with soap, so that’s what I have always done.
That is until a friend told me to try something new. She recommended a gentle dry skin lotion. She told me that she had tried this lotion and saw wonderful results with her own dry skin. I tried it one night and afterward my skin felt smooth and supple. After a few more uses, my skin felt even better. The redness has decreased and the scales have sloughed off.
Eczema – a condition that can vary from simple dry skin to reddish inflammation – occurs in several people. Unfortunately, one of the most inexpensive ways to remedy this is to use a topical crème, the down side being that you don’t know if the ingredients will trigger a flare up. Most doctors will tell you to look for natural skin care products or dry skin treatment.
If those do not work, your doctor can recommend a good topical solution. The main thing is to pay attention to what can trigger your inflammation. Once you figure that out, then using certain products won’t be so difficult.

Dry skin shouldn’t be treated as though it’s the end of the world, but it is a serious problem. Fine lines and wrinkles can result when the facial epidermis becomes dry and patchy. It might seem counterintuitive, but bathing can actually dry the skin out even further. That’s why simply scrubbing your face with soap and water can have a detrimental effect.
Try cutting down on the time you spend in a hot shower, as the heat actually deprives your skin of its natural moisture. Lotions and moisturizers also work as effective dry skin remedies. In rare cases, a prescription-strength cream could be warranted, but most people respond well to an over-the-counter moisturizer. If you live in a dry, hot region of the country, you’re even more susceptible to dry skin.
